We are living in times marked by catastrophic #humanitarian and #climate crises that largely stem from geopolitical inequities. The need for stronger and more rapid progress at scale is vital for achieving sustainable development goals and global nutrition targets. What can guide the global community in eradicating malnutrition? The Nutrition Accountability Framework (#NAF), the world’s first independent and comprehensive platform for registering SMART nutrition commitments and monitoring #nutritionaction. With it, stakeholders can continue to improve & and drive progress on #nutrition. Read our new blog on how the NAF supports coordinated efforts and transparent reporting that can ensure equitable access to adequate and nutritious food for all, while also safeguarding the environment. https://lnkd.in/eFgtRE7P

The Global Nutrition Report (GNR) is the world’s leading independent assessment of the state of global nutrition.
About us
The Global Nutrition Report (GNR) is the world’s leading independent assessment of the state of global nutrition. We provide the best available data, in-depth analysis and expert opinion rooted in evidence to help drive action on nutrition where it is urgently needed. A multi-stakeholder initiative comprised of global institutions, the GNR is led by experts in the field of nutrition. The GNR was established in 2014 following the first Nutrition for Growth summit, as an accountability mechanism to track progress against global nutrition targets and the commitments made to reach them. Through a comprehensive report, the Nutrition Accountability Framework, interactive Country Nutrition Profiles and Nutrition for Growth Commitment Tracking, the GNR sheds light on the burden of malnutrition and highlights progress and working solutions to tackle malnutrition around the world. We are a unifying voice, designed for and with the communities who can act. By informing the nutrition debate, we inspire action to create a world free from malnutrition in all its forms.

For the first time, more school-aged children and adolescents are living with obesity than underweight. In their new report, "Feeding Profit: How food environments are failing children," UNICEF sheds light on shifts in global #malnutrition. With rates of overweight doubling in the last two decades, 1 in 5 children aged 5–19 are now living with overweight, and 1 in 13 are living with obesity. The #data is clear: unhealthy food environments are spurring this dramatic growth. To sustain and advance progress for millions of children, policymakers, the private sector, and other #nutrition actors must be held accountable for their commitments to child nutrition. In the past weeks we have seen massive outcry about the horrifying man-made #famine in #Gaza. As nutrition scientists, who have spent our careers to combat hunger and malnutrition, we are appalled to see the extent and scale at which hunger is being used as a weapon of war. We are appalled even more because we know the science and what this means for children, women, families and their futures. That is why the Standing Together for Nutrition (#ST4N) consortium joined the chorus of voices calling for an end to this, and published a comment in The Lancet Group today together with a Call to Action to join us in support. We are calling for immediate action on human-made famines in #Gaza and in other countries, including #Sudan, #SouthSudan, and #Yemen. With over 1.2 million people facing catastrophic famine conditions, we cannot remain silent. The use of starvation as a weapon of war must stop. Science is clear: malnutrition during the first 1000 days of life disrupts physical growth, weakens immune systems, and impairs cognitive development. Children who survive famine face lifelong consequences including stunted growth, chronic diseases, and reduced economic potential. If we allow an entire generation to grow up hungry, traumatized, and without hope, we are all complicit in perpetuating a cycle of suffering and setting the stage for future instability and conflict. This is not a moment for analysis—this is a moment for action. It is with great sorrow that we mark the passing of Dr David Nabarro, a global health champion and tireless advocate for food security and #nutrition. As the first Coordinator of the Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement, Dr Nabarro united governments, civil society, donors and businesses to prioritise nutrition in development agendas and catalyse efforts to improve nutrition across the globe. He inspired the collaborative spirit and helped build an ecosystem of partnerships and shared accountability from which The Global Nutrition Report emerged. His legacy will live on in our collective efforts to end malnutrition in all its forms. https://bit.ly/4ffoUac Shibani Ghosh Giacomo Zanello Irshad Danish Afshan Khan
