Web Designer at Makemedia
United Kingdom
My core skills are creative, detailed and professionally composed website layout designs and bulletproof markup and CSS. I am able to identify a clients needs quickly and keep this in focus throughout my design work. My portfolio is available at www.thomasprior.co.uk.
The websites I design at are mainly ASP.NET based, so I work with Microsoft Visual Studio daily and feel confident using it as my primary coding environment. I also know my way around Dreamweaver, often using it as a starting point for markup before migrating to Visual Studio. In the past I have also been lucky enough to head up the design and build of a couple of in-house CMS's which can be found in my portfolio.
Although a web designer, I enjoy turning my hand to other areas of design when required. I have completed various email marketing campaigns, and in the past I have undertaken a number of print projects. Some of my print advertising work has been seen in national newspapers (eg: The Independant) and magazines (eg: Mens Health). I have recently started to dabble in motion graphics, using Adobe AfterEffects to create short adverts for digital signage for the likes of Crown Paints and Homebase UK.
I'm able to tackle new briefs constructively, identifying what is required from me quickly and remain focused and organised throughout a project. I have a keen eye for good composition and can build a balanced design which I then work up with measured detail, trying to make those extra touches improve my work as often as possible. I enjoy keeping up-to-date with new web trends and technologies through industry magazines, blogs and attending conferences and expo's.
Web standards are important to me and like most modern web designers I endeavour to have compliant, valid and semantic code behind my designs.

Bulletproof, standards-based and accessible CSS/(X)HTML front-end coding;
Awareness of design trends and movements which I translate into my work when appropriate;

I joined Bell in March 2007, becoming part of a sizeable department building a variety of SME websites and applications. These were mainly ASP.NET based, with occassional Python-based CMS projects (Django framework).
My work at Bell was split between creative layout design and front-end development. I was also involved in the creation of animation for the Bell digital signage system using Adobe Flash and AfterEffects.
As the team grew, my involvement in project planning, pitching and creative direction increased. In October 2008 I was made Lead Designer within a team of seven designers, assisting wherever necessary. My role also included the development of working practices, frameworks and quality consistency within the team alongside the development team lead.
I left Bell in May 2009 to relocate to Sussex.

I joined All- Perception fresh from graduation in 2005. Here I learnt core skills that have served me well in both web and print design. Although a small team, I was involved in a variety of projects across a number of mediums.
My main work involved the creation of website layout designs and publishing layouts for print.
I left this position in March 2007 to persue a role specialising in web design.
