Pete Richardson is an experienced international economist and expert in macroeconomic modelling methods, economic forecasting and statistical systems.
At the OECD he worked for 25 years in the Economics Department as Division Head responsible for macroeconomic policy analysis and research, international trade analysis, economic forecasting, research, modeling and systems development. In doing so he has led multi-cultural teams of economists, statisticians, computer scientists and research assistants in support of the OECD's macroeconomic assessments, forecasts and policy studies, contributing to the OECD Economic Outlook, related policy studies and working papers. Topics include the world economy,globalisation, international trade, inflation, structural unemployment, supply-side potential and medium term projections. He also represented the OECD in a variety of international discussion groups and played an active role in the management and recruitment of professional staff.
Prior to working at the OECD, Pete was a member of the UK Treasury's macroeconomic analysis and forecasting team and prior to that economic advisor on international trade, the macroeconomy and UK industrial policy at the UK Departments of Trade and Industry.
Pete has acquired extensive practical experience in economic assessment, modelling and systems development throughout his professional career,
Since retiring from the OECD in Spring 2009, he maintains a strong interest in macroeconomic modelling and economic forecasting systems. He is currently a senior economic advisor to the PROGNOZ Business Intelligence Software Corporation, where he is involved in modelling and data management software systems development in Europe. He is also an economic modelling consultant to the Asian Development Bank.
