Over my long career in small computing systems, I have developed skills as an Electronics Technician, PC Programmer/Analyst, Network Designer, Programmer Supervisor, PC Game Designer, PC Game Packager, Information Center Analyst, Business Analyst, Application Analyst, and Systems Analyst. As you might expect from the above hardware and software experience that I am very good at diagnosing problems where the hardware vendor blames the software vendor and vice versa.
I am also very good at developing or prototyping software using Microsoft Access as the base system or front-end for a Microsoft SQL Server. At Christiana Care, my Microsoft Access expertise was used to help streamline the operating system upgrade from Windows 3.1 to Windows NT as each of about 5,000 computers were surveyed using a form I designed and tracked in an Access Database. This skill also helped me plan the move of the Corporate Finance Center Patient Financial Services and Admitting departments to a new site.
When the Visiting Nurses Association converted their payroll to the system currently being used by the rest of Christiana Care, I designed, with the input from the current Nursing and other patient care workers, a data entry system that collected their hourly time card data from three statewide sites, with manager oversight, and secure server access. The nurses’ time collection included 29 pay scales. The process worked smoothly when implemented and there were no reported problems other than training issues for the months the MS Access based program was in use during the transition period.
Lately, I have been maintaining Accounts Receivable predictions using the CMS Medicare IPPS pricer programs as a guide.
