Daniel Whiston’s Summary

I was formerly Head of Multimedia Scriptwriting (e.g. Instructional Design) at www.widelearning.com in London (at the time one of the UK's largest e-learning companies) and have since gained extensive experience as a freelance ID working for a range of e-learning companies including www.easyi.com (compliance specialists), www.walkgrove.co.uk (public sector), www.line.co.uk (high-end media rich products) and www.atticlearning.com (games and high-end bespoke e-learning). I have also worked for www.e2train.com, www.bygsystems.com, www.fmsglobal.com, www.ashfordopen.com, www.ebc.co.uk and extensively for www.bbc.co.uk.

As well as regular ID work (working with clients to define Learning Outcomes and media treatments and then writing the actual scripts/storyboards), I also operate in the areas of curriculum design, training needs analysis and instructional design/e-learning consultancy on a company-wide, strategic level ( e.g. I have acted as a consultant to the BBC's internal training/e-learning specialists, and have advised the company who built the prototype for the UK Government's 'Digital Curriculum' project on how to put the right processes in place to implement the project successfully).

Within the last year three of the projects I have worked on have won awards - the European Information Security Award for Education and Training, an IVCA award for Best Internal Multimedia Product and a Special Mention in the 'Excellence in the Production of Learning Content' category at the e-learning age Industry Awards.
