Marketing Intern
– Present
I am a final year Theatre and Performance Studies student at the University of Warwick, on track to achieve a first class degree, with bases in Central London and Birmingham.
I am interested in working in marketing and advertising following my degree and I am currently applying for marketing graduate schemes.
I am currently working as a marketing intern at the 'Royal Shakespeare Company' and marketing officer for The Icing Agency at 'mac birmingham' alongside my degree and roles for Freshblood New Writing and Shakespeare Society at the University of Warwick.

Responsible for a project for Events and Exhibitions department along with and audience development project. Weekly duties include administration of the RSC’s Key scheme for young people, monitoring the RSC’s social media pages and ensuring FOH areas, print racks and marketing boards are up to date.

The Icing Agency is a creative agency that I, along with nine others, have founded at 'mac birmingham' to conduct all marketing activity for The Next Generation Projects which focus on ensuring young people in inner city Birmingham have a relationship with creativity and the arts. I am currently working on the marketing for the One Hundred Thousand Welcomes project for which I have collaborated with others to create a marketing strategy for and have individually written press releases for local newspapers and arts advertising sites as well as developing plans for a promotional film for the project that will be used for marketing the submissions process of the project across Birmingham.
My internship required me to update the website with upcoming shows, send out education packs to schools on performances which may be of interest or that relate to the curriculum, keep the in house marketing relevant and up to date, organise the print room and ensure the theatre has an active presence at events in Leamington Spa town centre so to market the upcoming shows.

Responsible for helping customers on the shop floor, keeping the shop floor looking presentable with the correct standards, having an understanding of the products and concepts for the season, managing the fitting room and ensuring the stock rooms remained organsied

Worked to present the instruction sheets for store organisation for worldwide distribution, created presentations on store organisation and created a new computer filing system to make spreadsheets more easily accessible and understandable.
Friends Connect Friends was founded by Anna Harper as 'a group for people with disabilities to meet, get together and have a good time.' Responsible for social media marketing of the events.

Great Ormond Street Hospital’s ‘Theatres for Theatres” appeal asked people to put on shows and donate the profits to the charity. I was moved by the charity’s initiative and so staged a production of Disney’s High School Musical in February 2011 raising £3,550. The process of putting on this production gave me a taste of what it would be like to lead a theatre company as I directed and produced the piece. Though I was faced with a lot of obstacles, the experience helped me to become more determined. Over the course of the five months I secured a contract with the theatre, dealt with production rights, managed the finances and budgeting, organised the advertising campaign and marketed the show to my school as well as the wider potential audience from the area, as well as directing the show and dealing with set, costumes and props. I learnt to delegate tasks by asking others for support and found skills which aided my management of the cast of 25 boys and girls age 12-16 who made up our theatre company ‘BEAT’. I also learnt about advertising, for example I was interviewed by my school magazine, local newspapers and BBC WM about my production of High School Musical, which successfully resulted in me being offered help with fundraising. Putting on this production gave me a huge sense of personal pride and enjoyment but, other than helping the charity, I was humbled by the thanks of parents of the cast for giving their child a chance and the confidence to perform.
Responsible for teaching dance to a local youth group; leading warm ups, teaching choreography and organising performances for family and friends at the end of the term.
Worked as a research assistant for Dr Nadine Holdsworth on her project 'Gyspies, Travellers and the Crisis of Britishness.' Responsible for creating a bibliography of sources, compiling a dossier of creative materials and presented an academic poster at The University of Warwick.
Responsible for co-ordinating a ten day festival of student written plays and screenplays at the University of Warwick which will be taking place in February 2015.
Responsible for organising workshops by students and professional theatre companies. Forming a relationship with a local primary school and organising weekly workshops to help teach Shakespeare.
