Principal Responsibilities
Responsible for writing and implementing a new health and safety system to meet the guidance contained within BS8800 which involved developing strategy, policies, procedures and work instructions for all levels of staff. This involved completely re-writing many existing procedures, drafting and agreeing new policies and procedures and arranging for their implementation across the wide range of activities of ABB Steward Limited.

Successfully developed and implemented an Environmental Management System to the ISO 14001 standard and ABB Steward at December 1998 became the first electrical and mechanical contracting company to achieve certification.

Managed a team of seven professional staff who principally looked after a number of disciplines including work on airports (land side), railway (infrastructure and 10 major London stations), construction sites, building services work (including measured term contracting and servicing), project management and fibre optic cable installation.

I was the designated holder of the Railways Safety Case for ABB Steward Limited.

Introduced a Safety Technical Competency training framework that identified training needs and competence when trained across the business.

Acted as a Senior Safety Specialist for the three businesses' of ABB Steward Limited that operated in the London and Home Counties: mechanical and electrical installation, fibre optic installation, heating and ventilation systems and building services installation.

Responsibility for overseeing the vetting of sub-contracting and labour only agencies to ensure that they meet statutory compliance.

A member of Heating and Ventilating Contractors Association Safety Committee and The Construction Health and Safety Group during this time.
