Helps improve software development teams through training, coaching and interim management
London, United Kingdom
Allan’s IT career started early: he was one of those kids who got into computers early. He sold his first computer program at the age of 16. By the time he graduated six years later he had sold many more programs and had been lucky enough to work on the development of one of the earliest handheld PCs.
Over the next 10 years he held a succession of programming jobs in London and California. He enjoyed programming yet saw the same problems again and again. He could fix the code, that was the easy bit but there was more to it than that. He could see the details and the big picture. So he stepped away from IT for a bit to complete an MBA.
Still with a passion for the power of technology he returned to software development were he has since worked to improve how software is created and improve the customer inexperience. He set out his ideas on better software development in his first book: Changing Software Development: Learning to be Agile (2008).
Allan now works as an independent consulting helping companies improve the way they develop software and software customers get what they need. He doesn’t care what you call it: Project Management, Product Management, Business Analysis, Agile Coaching or any other title, its about getting things done and helping things work better in future.
