Contract Web Developer

Blue Max Banner
(2 years 2 months)Trowbridge, Wiltshire

Working with the IT manager and call centre manager, I designed and built a new sales order entry platform using ASP.Net and C#. The application was required as the existing software was primarily warehouse and inventory management and could not handle the volume and complexity of call centre order entry. The platform I built allowed the sales order entry person to retrieve relevant customer information as well as product and order information from one screen, and also leverages data caching to improve performance. Due to the high quality of my work, my contract was extended several times to deliver additional features as well as working on additional projects including the company’s website and business processes.

Key Achievements:

* Developed new Sales Order Entry application which reduced order entry times from several minutes to around 30 seconds.
* Optimised the existing website content to boost SEO which in turn increased website orders by over 40%
* Created a successful email marketing solution using MailChimp for weekly newsletters and promotional offers.
* Optimised several business processes including data extracts, sales reporting and product information.

Web Developer

Alexandra
(4 years 4 months)Bristol, United Kingdom

I successfully designed and built, from scratch, the company’s retail and B2B website along with an iSeries analyst programmer. Between the two of us we devised a way for the ASP.Net C# website to rapidly communicate with the iSeries RPG/ILE backend system and utilise existing business logic and processes. The website was built to be multi language and multi-currency and was able to be skinned so that individual customers could have bespoke version with their own products on offer. This website was highly successful and in use between 2008 and 2012 when Alexandra went into administration.

Key Achievements:

* Building successful retail ecommerce website from scratch
* Building a touchscreen order entry application installed as a kiosk into the fleet of lorries taken to customer sites for wardrobe uniform fitting and orders.
* Developed and maintained company intranet and IT knowledgebase system
* Built application to convert incoming electronic customer orders (XML, CSV, EDI) to a format that can be imported into the iSeries backend software.

iSeries Operations Analyst

Alexandra
(4 years 5 months)Bristol, United Kingdom

Working in a shift based team to ensure smooth running of the iSeries servers and providing user support on the IT helpdesk.

Main duties included daily system backups and restorations, hardware servicing and maintenance, running essential nightly batch routines, running and printing reports containing sensitive information, as well as system upgrades. Also responsible for servicing and maintenance of the companies printers and fax machines and leasing with engineers on more complex problems.

Projects

Rapid Sales Order Entry

Due to changes in back office software, Blue Max Banner required a new order entry system to speed up the order entry process. The result is a Rapid Sales Order Entry system which integrates with the existing back office software to provide real-time information on stock levels, pricing, product and customer information, whilst remaining easy to use under the fast paced conditions of a busy call centre.
