    My current role is as a collaboration specialist within the Workplace Technology & Collaboration team in the UK infrastructure consulting division. I am the UK collaboration offering lead and advise on projects and engagements globally, and integrate into the next generation workplace initiative looking at the best ways to leverage the collaboration tools more effectively within the team, to increase performance and efficiency.

    At this time I was responsible for the management of a deployment tracking and reporting Toolset used to plan and monitor the global deployment of Vista.
    My primary focus was on maturing the operation of the Toolset and increasing the end user satisfaction, the key challenge was to quickly address operational issues during ever increasing usage of the tools, and to provide clear lines of communication from and to the team to increase productivity.
    I was also responsible for managing the vendor relationship for the Project Vista deployment for the supply of $60,000,000 worth of new hardware. There were numerous long running issues with the hardware vendor for which I was responsible for leading the resolution.

    As part of the Architecture team I was heavily involved in development of the clients Next Generation Microsoft Vista client for 70,000 desktops globally, this has included providing a single image solution for multiple build scenarios.
    During my time in this role I also coordinated the client and deployment solution testing and maintained strict pharmaceutical Quality & Compliance documentation required to release the client.
    I also developed a localisation solution to allow for the mid deployment localisation of the Microsoft Vista client, Microsoft Office Communicator and Microsoft Office 2007 suite.

    As solution engineer, I was responsible for liaising with stakeholders within the business to identify current business needs, liaising with capability managers to determine valid solutions to meet these requirements, and tracking the resultant projects against timescales and budgets through to completion, reporting directly to the CIO.
    I conducted research & analysis of emerging technologies with an aim to identify creative solutions with suitable cost/benefit ratios.
    This included the adoption of SharePoint 2007 and Office 2007, and leveraging additional Microsoft technologies included in the Microsoft enterprise agreement such as Exchange 2007 and Office Communications Server.

    • Information lifecycle architecture - including the global deployment of SharePoint
    • Data Centre consolidation & virtualisation
    • Email & File Archiving with ISO 2700 Compliance
    • Global Service Desk in EMEA & APAC regions
    • ITIL standard: Asset, Issue, Configuration & Release Management
    In addition to the above I managed the Global Microsoft Licensing agreement for iSOFT PLC

    Key aspects of this were:
    • Initial technology assessments and selection,
    • Creation of technical standards documentation and best practice identification.
    I Worked with Microsoft experts to formulate a comprehensive strategy for the development of the corporate intranet for both Vertex and United Utilities, incorporating other Knowledge Management and collaborative working systems, including:
    • Collaboration Tools, Portals, Information Lifecycle Management, Document Management & Workflow, Real Time Collaboration & E-Learning
