Director at Purkiss Ltd.
Brighton, United Kingdom
I enjoy building communities, both on and offline. I use Free/Libre Open Source Software to do this online, mostly utilising the 'community plumbing' Content Management System Drupal.
Based in the City of Brighton and Hove on the South Coast of the UK, I partner with a number of other leaders in their respective fields in order to provide a one-stop-shop, with services ranging from User Experience Design to building properties in the Virtual World SecondLife.
My core process is 'fostering connections' and my Wealth Dynamics profile is Creator. I've many more personality test results I could share with you, however these are the two which resonate with me the most. Put simply, I create by fostering connections, both human and technical.
In addition to building communities for clients, I also create and build my own, for example the Hove Social Media Cafe and the Drupal South East UK group.
Throughout the last 20 years I have helped numerous businesses make the most of the very latest advancements in technology, including:
* Mazda
* UK Govt. (National Strategies Online)
* ATI Technologies
* British Telecom
* Volkswagen
* B&Q (Kingfisher Group PLC)
* Foreign & Commonwealth Office
* Royal Commonwealth Society

After working in the IT industry and going to Uni as a mature student, I received exemplary marks (tutor gave me 'alpha' mark as better than A+!) in my 1st yr of Computer Science.
For some reason I decided it was not enough of a challenge and decided to learn something new so changed to Journalism, Film & Broadcasting. I soon realised my mistake and that computers were my thing, hence restarting in Bradford University in 96 on a Computing with Management Degree course...
DipHE , Computing with Management , 1996 — 1999
Completed two years of a three-year degree as was offered place in London startup, so decided to pursue that.
