I was responsible for managing a team of up to 20 staff at one of the busiest students' unions in the country. This involved remaining calm and in control during busy and potentially stressful situations, whilst ensuring staff are carrying out their duties correctly.
The role also involved motivating, training and supporting my team during a variety of situations, whilst also being required to use my initiative to solve problems 'on the spot' which may not have been encountered before.
Whilst this role could be challenging, I found it very rewarding as it gave me the opportunity to improve my interpersonal skills and my ability to prioritise/multi-task during stressful situations.
I was responsible for helping a mid-sized business make the best use of technology available. I advised the managing director on the various systems which could be used to improve all aspects of the business, and thus improve the business’ overall profitability.

This job required great customer service skills, and involved talking to members of the public on a regular basis.
I was also given the additional responsibility of handling refunds, which required knowledge of company policy, as well as laws (such as "The Sale of Goods Act").
