Educational Institution; 1001-5000 employees; Higher Education industry

September 2010March 2012 (1 year 7 months) Lampeter

During term time I work as campus warden in the University, this is a job that pushes ones ability to adapt to wide spectrum of situations and I thoroughly enjoy the challenges that it brings.
The job encompasses welfare, first aid and security. A key part of the role is to be personable and being able to deal with highly stressful situations, some examples have been medical emergencies, confrontations and fires.

Supervisor

Holland & Barrett

Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Health, Wellness and Fitness industry

August 2006October 2009 (3 years 3 months) Worthing, United Kingdom

I originally started work as a part time sales assistant. Whilst working at Holland and Barrett employees have to go through extensive training, including being sent to London for tests on product knowledge, shop awareness and selling techniques. After a year of being employed, I was promoted to a part time supervisor. I was given full management training, as a supervisor my job included running the shop by myself, cashing up, organising daily work routines, staff management and health and safety checks. I was also the primary emergency key holder. The store in Worthing is one of company's flagship stores and as such had a large volume of customers. The most rewarding part of the job is communicating with the clients, helping them with any problems and suggesting the correct products.

Assistant Instructor

Worthing Kung Fu School

October 2007September 2008 (1 year) Worthing

I train in a style of kung fu called Wing Chun as a passionate hobby; I used to assist in teaching the children’s classes. The job gave me a variety of experiences, as well as learning how to effectively teach children from the age of three years up to 14. I also have experience in talking to parents, helping them with any issues and assisting in any problems that there might be. I also helped in marketing events; we would have regular meetings discussing the future of Kung-Fu Schools, expansion and opportunities to get new people into self-defence.

Clerical Assistant

Akerman Solicitors

June 2005June 2005 (1 month) Worthing

While at High School we were encouraged to find one weeks work experience, at the time I was very interested in pursuing a future in law and applied at Akerman Solicitors, whilst there I learned valuable skills. I worked in reception, dealing with clients issues in person and on the phone as well as working with the solicitors, I partook in a wide variety of office work as would be expected of a clerical assistant.
