Buyanza Eco Lodge Initiative, Rukingiri, South West Uganda

An individual initiative to design, resource and build a house in south west of Uganda. Constructed using only locally available material and personnel the project is being driven by the team members desire to assess the direct economic impact small scale development has on the surrounding community.

– Present

Established partnership with University of Westminster to act as their sub-contracted partner in delivering the field package of the Social Enterprise module.

> Responsible for full project management of the projects.
> Responsible for project financial turnover of £20k p.a.
> Designed 2 high quality MBA level projects per trip, providing background and reference.
> Organised trip logistics; invoicing, arranging flights and liaising with my team in Uganda to arrange accomodation, transport, potential interviewees, etc.

The OutRider Programme (monitoring, evaluation & maintenance)

– Present

The Outrider programme is the monitoring, evaluation and maintenance programme for the Busoga Trust, funded by the Waterloo Foundation. It is a redesigned reinstatement of an old M&E system.

> Complete project management of programme.
> Researched, wrote and submitted fundraising proposal to the donor.
> Conducted further rounds of negotiation to secure £60k over 3 years to fund two motorcycle based monitors.
> Directed team on the ground to carry out delegated duties of recruitment and survey design.
> Organised key deliverables (in partnership with my local colleagues) including; Project Management/MS Project training workshop conducted; staff members enrolled in training in Kenya; further training in Uganda.
> Responsible for account management and annual donor reporting requirements.

Digital Strategy Design and Implementation(Link)

Responsible for the design and implementation of a digital strategy for the Busoga Trust. This included; building a social media presence, redeveloping the website, standardising branding, writing all copy for website and other publications, integration with other sectoral bodies to develop quality cross linking and focus on search engine optimisation (our page ranking on Google for the search term "Uganda Water" rose from page 7 to page 1).

This resulted in a dramatic increase in web traffic, establishment of new partnerships, an increase in funding (online donations increased to account for over £15000 per annum).
