I am enthusiastic, driven and eager to develop, improve and create. I am an active learner, and have never had any problem picking up new skills, or developing on existing ones. I was described by my school work placement, spent as an IT technician, as ‘having an aptitude for the subject area’ and since the age of 9, I have never stopped improving my range of skills.
I have been working as a self-employed ‘freelance web designer’ since October 2003, and with the projects I have worked on, I have developed great working relationships with my clients, learnt to deal with the stresses and strains of being your own boss, and have learnt invaluable time-management skills.
As well as my computing, I also have a keen interest in broadcasting. I was previously ‘head hunted’ by my University's Student’s Union for the position of ‘Head of Technical’ at the student radio station – GK Radio. From this, within a year I became the Media Officer, the strategic manager for all student media at my University. Previous to this I was the Assistant Manager at the ShugFM radio station based in Stafford, and took the lead in developing good commercial relationships and increasing the awareness of the brand in the local community.
Whilst at my Secondary school, I was elected by my peers to the independent positions of “Senior Prefect”, my school’s alternative to ‘head boy’, and to firstly “Vice-chair of the School Council”, later to be elected to position of “Chair of the School Council”. I then went on to my Sixth-form college, where again, I was elected as “Co-Chair of the Student Council”. This gave me a huge responsibility to represent the students, and liaise with the college’s governing body to implement a number of changes to the constitution of the college, and represent the students’ views during a very challenging, and changing time for the college.
