Phil Wilkins is a software architect and project manager with a wealth of experience in enterprise and time sensitive applications, with over twenty years experience in the software industry. Prior to joining Specsavers Phil managed development at SeeWhy and architected the integration layers. Havinf previously been the technical/architect lead at Hi-Q for developing a middleware product for adoption across the back office applications within the UK armed forces. Before this Phil performed technical and team leading roles for EDS and GEC group on a range solutions, from military mobile radar through to Trans-Atlantic ATC and innovative operational displays of real-time synthetic environments, employing a diverse mix of technologies from Ada with X/Motif to Java (SE/EE) and Oracle.
As a side line Phil runs several websites for community organisations using CMS based technologies.

Leading (staff & technically) a client based team developing a Joint Operational Picture which provided an advanced multi-user display solution with novel display techniques. This development programme worked to very tight time scales, and working closely with the customer to identify requirements, and presentation to the client’s various customers.
Air Traffic Control
Team Leader and Assistant QA roles on a large multi-million pound development programme. Starting with preliminary design based on a formal requirements capture from the customer and progressing through detailed design and implementation phases for the user interface and later comms subsysterms.
