I have been working on websites since the early days in 1995. I have a broad range of experience in many areas of the Internet and computing in general.

I am a published author on Web Standards and Accessible Web Design, and have taught/lectured at various venues in the north, including the Sheffield Hallam IT Foundry.

I am passionate about the web, and love spending time producing easy to use websites and web-based systems.

My particular passion is building web-based systems in Perl/PHP and MySQL. By this I mean systems for content management (CMS), customer relationship management (CRM), business databases, eCommerce sites and similar. Basically any kind of web-based system. We have a base of reusable code, that is constantly evolving, which simplifies the creation of this kind of system.

  I have been operating MIS Web Design since 2002. In that time we have worked on a diverse range of projects across all sectors and numerous industries.
  
  We have in-depth experience of the development of bespoke web-based systems such as Content Management Systems and eCommerce. We also cover front-end website development with a strong focus on the user-experience in terms of accessibility and usability.

  I have been operating Accessify Forum since 2003 as a popular discussion forum about making websites accessible to people with disabilities.
  
  The forum has maintained a steady community over the years, having a fantastic group of moderators who keep it running on a daily basis. My involvement these days tends to be mostly in the background - making changes to the forum system itself and keeping in touch with the moderators. However I have recently begun taking a more active part in the discussions again.
  
  Note: Please accept my apologies that this position claims to have been since August 2002. That was the only way that I could get LinkedIn to display it below MIS Web Design on my profile. I actually started the forum on the 6th of August 2003.

  Bennetts of Sheffield is a family fishing tackle business, operated by my Dad, with around 30 employees. I worked for him full-time as Operations Director for a little over a year.
  
  I got a lot out of my time there, particularly the management experience was useful but also it gave me a better understanding of retail in general.
  
  Unfortunately we never had time to overhaul the website while I was there, since the company was recovering from massive flood damage at the time, and all hands were needed on deck. We do plan to work together on the website in the future.
