Nick has been working as a documentation professional in the translation and localisation field since 1986. He holds full professional qualifications as a technical translator (a qualified Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (MITI), and a Fellow of the Institute of Linguists), and is an experienced business manager and consultant on documentation workflows.
Nick's passions, besides excellence in translation, include good documentation design, structured FrameMaker, usability, translation memory systems and XML. Nick has also been a member of the Translation Subcommittee of the OASIS committee that oversees development of the DITA open standard for XML documentation, and has presented webinars on translation workflows for DITA and other XML-based documentation..
Nick is actively involved in various professional bodies, having sat on the Council of ITI and currently acting as a tutor on online courses for newly qualified translators. Nick also regularly presents on a range of topics to translators and to documentation professionals.
Nick is a past President of the UK chapter of STC, the Society for Technical Communications (see www.stcuk.org for web site).

As part of my degree course, I spent a fascinating six months on an internship at Intertext in Berlin, working as an in-house technical translator in an office with over 100 in-house translators. A challenging, demanding and fun time.
