Jon Hudson received a BSc in Physical Electronics from the University of Kent at Canterbury in 1977 and joined Texas Instruments in the UK as a design engineer. During the 1980's he built up TI's European ASIC design capability in Bedford, England. From 1988 to 1994 he was responsible for TI's European Linear telecoms business. From 1995- 2004 he was European technical marketing manager.
In early 20004, Jon Hudson left TI to form the Jon Hudson Consultancy where clients included AdvanceSis, Affle, ARM, Bitwave Semiconductor, Celador Productions, Distraction Formats, Interactive Rights Management, Nokia Multimedia, Optical Metrology Innovations, Starcut and Texas Instruments. As well as providing semiconductor-based business development services, the creative focus of the Consultancy was the development of TV show formats around User Generated Content.
Jon joined Connectivity Chip leader CSR as Senior Vice President in 2006 and General Manager of PC, Automotive and Consumer business units. In late 2007 CSR undertook a strategic review of its future growth which Jon directed. The six month programme culminated in CSR gaining renewed confidence in the Connectivity Centre with priorities for Programme Execution and M&A for growth in GPS technology. Jon went on to run both these initiatives starting with the formation of a Programme Management Office focusing on R&D execution, and then the successful integration of San Jose-based GPS technology leader SiRF www.sirf.com . Jon retired from CSR in December 2009.
