    Sony Ericsson

    (Public Company; ERICY; Telecommunications industry)

    August 2005June 2007 (1 year 11 months)

As a member of the prototype team, I had worked on a number of different projects of different complexities and demand lasting from 8 hours to nearly 8 months.

Technology involved was as wide as possible, from embedded device drivers written in C, to high end user interfaces in J2ME but mostly modifications to Sony Ericsson's proprietary operating system to add functionality and increase performance.

Taking advantage of my previous experience on the web, by my initiative and under my supervision a wiki system to hold the internal information of the team was successfully implemented.

This episode also marks the rebirth of my deep passion for the web, which I'd fully embrace further.

    (Educational Institution; Higher Education industry)

    January 2003January 2004 (1 year 1 month)

I've joined the Integrable Systems Lab (LSI) to assume a research position that would allow me to have both theoretical and practical experience for my grad thesis on Open Source High Availability Systems.

During my stay at the lab I had reserached, implemented, documented and evangelized best practices for High Availability systems, load balance servers, firewalling and core networking functionality.

  • Web and Multimedia developer

    IPT

(Privately Held; Marketing and Advertising industry)

    January 2000December 2002 (3 years )

I've joined this position by invitation from the multimidia team of this prestigious research institute.

On my three years on this position, I had the oportunity to develop and maintain high traffic and high exposure websites for major companies like Deca and Itautec, two major Brazilian companies, as well as taking an active role on developing the then new Institute website.

The website itself was awarded several important prizes and recognitions and even being developed in 2001 had survived the test of time for over 7 years, well after I left the institute.

Another activity of this period was to organise and lecture a Photoshop course for the Institute's technical team that counted among its students some of the most remarkable researchers on their fields.

    (Research industry)

    March 1998January 2000 (1 year 11 months)

Initially entering the lab as an undergrad researcher, I soon became staf member of the technical team.

My responsibilities and activities on the team involved the reserach of digital image formats for digital architechtural achives, hands on vectorization of maps, architectural photography, interaction with Geographical Information Systems (GIS), most of the lab's automation at the time as well as training and supervising colleagues and trainees in my fields of expertise.

In this position I also had an important role interfacing the lab with external people, including other labs collaborating with work, sponsors and providers.

I also co-authored a publication on the field and specialised in Photoshop techniques that were the main source of the training I provided.

  • Trainee

    That's Internet

    (Online Media industry)

    September 1997February 1998 (6 months)

That's Internet was at the time, a small local ISP providing dial up access as well as web design and development and custom online solutions to its clients.

Despite being small in size it was very innovative and differentiated itself for being approachable and was among the local pioneers for internet democratisation, offering by defailt webspace, tools and technical tutorials to all clients.

As most jobs in a small company, tasks were not clearly defined and tasks ranged from system administration of the Linux servers to web design, from photography to writing tutorials to be published.

My experience at this company was very rich and not only contributed to the development of my early professional abilities but also helped paving the way I approached the web later on.
