Web Developer at Ink Creations Ltd.
Halifax, United Kingdom
I am currently working as a Web Developer for Ink Creations Ltd. My focus at Ink is ASP.NET MVC web development, integrating with jQuery and SQL Server 2005/8. We work on a number of projects including external eCommerce sites and Intranet Web Services.
I am also the Director of Dogma Creative Ltd. a web development company set up by my wife and I in November of 2006. We set up the company to try and achieve a better work/life balance. I’ve worked on several projects at Dogma, though most notably a knowledge management system for tracking the performance of hedge funds.
Prior to the formation of my company, I was working at Skipton Financial Services as a Senior Developer. At Skipton, I had an equal share of project management and application development. I was responsible for mentoring junior developers and supervising contractors. The role involved liaising with internal and external clients/suppliers on a regular basis.
I am excited by new web technologies and how they might be used to enhance the user experience. I have been using ASP.NET MVC for almost a year now and have recently switched to MVC 2 using .NET 4 and Visual Studio 2010. My main are of interest at the moment is Object Relational Mapping. We currently use a bespoke library that sits on ADO.NET, but I'm exploring the merits of other solutions such as Entity Framework and nHibernate. In contrast to my sad devotion to code, I believe one of my strongest assets is my ability to communicate effectively with non technical parts of the business at all levels.
