Central Radio (Proud FM Ltd) was the commercial radio station for Preston, South Ribble & Chorley. Broadcasting to the UK's newest city with a TSA of 281,000. Central Radio was a relatively new but loss-making business and I successfully negotiated its purchase from UTV in 2010. The operation was moved and co-located with our other station (Dune FM) and immediately benefited from cost savings and greater economies of scale. Central Radio was successfully sold to the radio group UKRD and rebranded as 106.5 The Bee in July 2011.

Dune FM was a commercial radio station for Southport, Formby, Ormskirk and Maghull. Serving a TSA of 208,000 in West Lancs and the Merseyside borough of Sefton. Dune was a long-term loss-making business with declining listenership. Within eigteen months of acquiring the business, I had cauterised its losses and doubled its audience. Dune was successfully sold in December 2010 to Southport Radio Ltd.

As founder I co-authored the successful bid document for the licence and appointed the non-executive Board. As Chief Exec of Cheshire FM, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, I raised all the seed capital for establishing the operation and managed all commercial and programming once operational. In 2008, Cheshire FM was awarded Business Start-up of the year by Cheshire County Council.

In 1999 we successfully negotiated our exit strategy when we sold the station to The Wireless Group (now UTV) . Wire FM continues to be a profitable business with a turnover circa £1m.
