Anne Marie McEwan’s Summary

The Smart Work Company works with senior executives to help them, through smart working and managing processes, tap into the amazing knowledge and capabilities of their workforces.

‘Smart’ processes are about effectiveness - doing the right things and doing them in a way that makes the most of people’s skills.

Smart processes reduce waste, particularly of people's skills, creativity and energy. This leads to improved financial performance for business, and more satisfying jobs for people.

Many businesses are wasting their employees' talent, intelligence and creativity. This is not intentional. Day-to-day concerns understandably get in the way of stepping back and thinking about how things might be more effectively achieved.

Senior executives bring us a practical business challenge they need to address. We then design a practical action programme that aims to do three things:

* meet project objectives;

* explain smart working practices that help businesses and
people do what they do better, or do what they do differently;

* seed a learning environment in the executive's organisation, which energises and engages the workforce.

Measurable benefits might be improving staff retention, increasing performance, increasing revenue - it depends on what the business challenge is. The second benefit is that learning about smart processes, tools and techniques will equip businesses to solve similar challenges in the future.
